Do you want to come to build a more amicable future together with young people? We are looking for a youth coordinator for a project to prevent bullying and violence, designed and implemented by young people of different ages and backgrounds.

The Finnish Mediation Forum (SSF) and #sovinto are looking for a coordinator for the new project to be launched, under whose guidance the young people will come up with ideas and develop an operating model or models for preventing conflicts, bullying and violence and increasing peace. They highlight young people’s own views on procedures for preventing bullying, disruptive behavior and violence. Young people receive training and support, e.g. from the experts of the Finnish Mediation Forum and the #sovinto program. The activities of the multicultural group of young people formed by the project may include e.g. raptures, statements and appearances in the media, publications, the use of social media, the production of digital and printed material, videos, podcasts, events, webinars and blogs, and collaboration with other peace-building and conflict management projects.

The role of the coordinator is to facilitate the activities of the youth expert group, to guide and enable the implementation of ideas within the budget. He is also responsible for contacts with partners, the setting up of a group of young experts and changes in the composition, and the search for possible additional funding bodies and sponsors as ideas are implemented and disseminated. Development work is also supported by the expertise and guidance of the partners. We expect you to have the skills to create and maintain networks and work in diverse and pluralistic teams. The project is implemented in a people-oriented way, with the young people’s own expertise listening to the needs of different groups above and planning activities based on it. You need readiness for start-up mental development as well as enthusiasm to create new socially significant activities.

The position is part-time (at least 50% in 2021) and will be agreed in more detail with the person selected for the position. The employment relationship will begin in mid-August 2021 and will be fixed-term until the end of 2023.

We hope you have:

• Experience of civic and / or volunteering, communication and influencing, preferably with young people and / or multicultural contexts

• Good communication skills

• Good written and oral communication skills in Finnish and English

• Network and some communication skills

• Project or project expertise

• Appropriate training and/or work experience (eg for 1-2 years in similar or voluntary work)

• Creative and goal-oriented way of working

• Knowledge of mediation and peace building and the field of mediation is an advantage
